Units of Measurements

In recipes, quantities of ingredients may be specified by mass ("weight"), by volume, or by count.

In most of the world, recipes use the metric system of litres (l) and millilitres (ml), grams (g) and kilograms (kg), and degrees Celsius (°C).

The U.S. uses pounds and ounces for weight, and U.S. customary units for volume.

On our website, you will find a Unit Converter above every recipe, just like the one at the bottom of this page.
