




Description:
The potato bake without the ham makes an excellent vegetarian main meal.
Ingredients:
Notes: Serves 4 as main dish or 6 if used as a side dish.
Preparation:
Scrub potatoes well and cook in salted water until tender. Drain, peel and let stand to cool. Brush an ovenproof dish with melted butter. Slice and layer the potatoes.
To make the sauce:
Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat until lightly coloured. Slowly add the liquids and blend with a whisk. Bring to the boil and simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes. Season to taste with salt.
Pour sauce over the potatoes and top with the grated cheese.
Sprinkle the bake with bread crumbs and dot with the extra butter.
